The Bloomfields Era: You’re Not a Tree. Move the Damn Roots.

by | 31 Oct 2025

Ever hit that point in life where you look around and think, “How the hell did I end up here?”

Everything looks absolutely fine on paper (the job, the house, the calendar full of stuff) but something deep inside just says quietly “This isn’t it.

That quiet voice is the start of reinvention.

And this week on The Reinvention Era, I sat down with two people who have made an art form out of listening to that voice, the brilliant Danny and Katie Bloomfield.

Now, Danny and Katie aren’t your typical glossy “follow your dreams” couple. They’ve lived the messy middle. The uncomfortable pivots. The late-night “what the hell are we doing?” conversations that most people never talk about.

They’re property entrepreneurs, life and business coaches, parents of six, and proof that reinvention doesn’t mean throwing everything out and starting over… it means moving your roots.

“You’re Not a F*cking Tree. Move”

At one point in our chat, Danny dropped a line that hit me… “You’re not a f*cking tree. You can move.”

And Katie, quick as ever, added…“Yeah, but sometimes you’ve got to move the damn roots too.”

And honestly? That’s reinvention in a nutshell.

Because we all hit those moments… after a divorce, a big birthday, a burnout, or just a gut-level knowing… when life feels just wrong.

But instead of moving, we freeze.

We stay stuck in jobs, habits, or relationships that no longer fit because we’ve already invested so much.

We tell ourselves it’s fine, we’ll just wait it out.

But as Danny said, “If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.”

Full, Not Busy.

One thing I love about the Bloomfields is how they’ve redefined success.

They don’t want a “busy” life… they want a full one. Full of family, laughter, health, connection, and work that actually lights them up.

They’re super intentional about what fills their calendar and ruthless about what doesn’t.

They use what they call a “default diary,” not just to manage time, but to protect energy. Because as they say, “A full diary isn’t a badge of honour, it’s a warning sign.”

That’s the kind of wisdom that hits whether you run a business or you’re just trying to get through the week without losing your mind.

The Wealthy Life… Defined Differently

When you hear “wealth,” most people think money, right? For Danny and Katie, it’s way bigger than that.

They talk about five pillars of a truly wealthy life:

  1. Health: physical and mental.
  2. Assets: not just property, but anything that supports your future.
  3. Growth Mindset: staying open, learning, evolving.
  4. Income: yes, money, but earned in ways that feel good.
  5. Connections: your relationships, your circle, your community.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about designing a life that feels good on the inside too.

Authenticity Over Aesthetics

What makes them so magnetic isn’t the property portfolio, it’s the honesty. They forget to charge laptops mid-masterclass. They dance in the kitchen. They still talk about who’s meant to plug the car in.

They’re proof that you can be wildly successful and deeply human. And that’s the kind of role modelling the world (and our kids) need more of.

Because being yourself isn’t just easier. It’s the most strategic thing you’ll ever do.

Move the Damn Roots

Reinvention doesn’t always mean burning your life down.

Sometimes it means gently moving your roots into better soil… even if it’s uncomfortable, even if it means shaking the dirt off first.

If you’ve been ignoring that inner nudge, that whisper that something’s off, this episode is your sign.
